| The AFP Retirement and Separations Benefits
System is an institution bourne out of the AFP's dream to
provide a steady funding source for the retirement
benefits of its soldiers more reliable than what was then
provided by the government. Cognizant of the need to
guarantee the distribution of pension to AFP retirees
vis-a-vis the narrowing budget alloted by the government
for the purpose, the AFP envisioned a system that could
generate funds independent of the government.
Hence, on December 30, 1973, the vision was pursued with the creation of the AFPRSBS by virtue of PD 361. Its mission: "To establish a perpetually self reliant retirement and separation benefits system for AFP retirees and their beneficiaries." Furthermore, the System took it upon itself the responsibility of ensuring the soldiers pensions that would not only enable economic sustenance but afford decent living as well. |
